Our lives are busy and hectic, filled with a thousand activities and responsibilities. So when we look for ways to improve our homes, our lives, and ourselves, we often look for solutions that require the least amount of time possible. This includes improvements to our physical appearance.
When considering cosmetic procedures, recovery times are becoming an increasingly critical factor, as many of us cannot afford long time off work or sacrifice time with family and friends.
There are large variations in recovery times from treatment to treatment. Depending on the plastic surgery procedure you desire, you can usually find one that meets your physical enhancement needs the most with the least amount of recovery time. From ICMCE we tell you the times that you can contemplate for each intervention:
Lifting or facelift
A facelift is an outpatient procedure performed at our Center using local anesthesia and, in some cases, intravenous sedation. This is a procedure that generates a minimal amount of bruising, and in many cases, the stitches can be removed in about a week.
After a facelift, most patients can resume light activities and continue to telework from home. Naturally, there should be no exertion, heavy lifting, or strenuous activity for the next two to three weeks of recovery; but most people can expect to resume their usual activities after a week or two.
Liposuction
Localized liposuction at our Center can be performed under local anesthesia in small areas of the body, so general anesthesia is not required. Localized liposuction is an excellent option to eliminate small accumulations of fat in the abdomen or the lateral thighs, as well as in the love handles that can appear in the middle area of the back.
Recovery time for this type of procedure is about a week, but in many cases, patients can return to their desk jobs in three to four days. The main restriction for a localized liposuction procedure is that you should not engage in any vigorous activity or heavy lifting for approximately two to three weeks.
Breast augmentation, lifting or reduction
A breast augmentation can be a life-changing procedure to restore a youthful appearance, correct physical abnormalities, or simply increase the size of the breasts to feel better about yourself.
Although this procedure is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia, it has a surprisingly short recovery period and is considered one of the fastest. But that will only be possible if you follow strict recovery guidelines, such as no pressure on the breast area, no stretching, lifting, pulling, or pushing. And anything that might be uncomfortable or painful for the pectoral region should go on the “not recommended” list!
In about a week, most patients can return to their desk work activities and in a month to their usual routines.
Brachioplasty
Also known as arm lift surgery, brachioplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arm region. The arm lift procedure reduces excess sagging skin and localized pockets of fat. It also tightens and softens the underlying supporting tissue. Brachioplasty is another procedure that can be performed under general anesthesia.
There are two variants of the procedure: a modified version and a full version. In the modified version, less time is spent on recovery due to the fact that less skin and fat are removed. The full version involves a more extensive removal of fat and skin. Each version is intended to make the arms appear trim, firm and smooth. Not everyone is a candidate for the modified procedure, but if you undergo this version, return to work and most of your usual activities could occur within a week.
Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty
Cosmetic eyelid surgery is a procedure that corrects droopy upper eyelids and puffy bags under the eyes by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is generally performed as an outpatient procedure, under local anesthesia, and can last between one and two hours. In most cases, the bruising is minimal and disappears after the first week. The stitches are removed five to seven days after surgery, at which time you can resume wearing makeup and contact lenses. Most patients can return to work and social activities after one week and resume vigorous physical exercise in two to three weeks.
